Bring More Kiddos To Jump on the Beds!

I have always loved photographing people in their bedrooms. It’s not because I’m a weird snoop or constantly on the lookout for interior design inspiration. Bedrooms are a reflection of their owners, and can be their cozy sanctuary away from the rest of the world.

Often when I come into a client’s home, with the parents’ permission I’ll ask one of the kids to show me their room. Showing me around can help them feel important (which they are!), and showing me their favorite toys often helps a shy kid open up, so they feel less weird about their family session once we get going.

Shooting in bedrooms can give my clients a sense of ease and comfort, as well as a little time capsule to look back on in the years to come and remember how itty bitty their kids were, and what the space looked like when they were a young family together. As for the kids, I would love to have a photo of myself in my room as a kid - my soccer ball on the floor, The Bangles poster on the wall and my My Little Pony collection on display in all their rainbow glory. They are fun pictures to have in the future.

Here are some of my favorites through the years;

• End-of-Summer Wrap-Up! {Boston Portrait Photographer} •

It was a hectic summer for Cydney Scott Photography and I'm sure everyone can relate. I decided to do and end-of summer wrap-up post here, sharing the greatest hits of the tail end of summer which included a very foggy mini session day (as always my clients were completely on-board despite the odd weather pattern. I'm one lucky photog!), a session in western MA, another on the cape and even a session with some family members of my own! Fluffy dogs, bikes in dresses, and bubbles. What more could you need in life?

Fall Sessions 2015!

This year's fall mini sessions were again a big success! Cold air didn't stop my clients form bringing their A-game and Salem Willows made for another lovely backdrop.

Sandi and her Family

I've been photographing Sandi, her husband Brian, and their kids for years and years and oh-my-gosh-look-how-little!, and I always enjoy seeing them. This year we met at Salem Willows Park (the site of this year's Fall Session Day)

One extra nice thing about Sandi is that she always reminds me and encourages me to shoot candid when I'm with her family. Sometimes I get so into portrait mode that I forget the strength that comes from being a fly on the wall, and the fact that I love shooting that way!
